The Directorate of Correspondence Courses & Distance Education of Bangalore University was established in the year 1976. The Directorate offers different Courses of study leading to Under Graduate degrees, Post Graduate degree, Professional Degree, P.G. Diploma, Diploma and Certificate Courses.

COURSES OFFERED BY THE DIRECTORATE OF CORRESPONDENCE COURSES & DISTANCE EDUCATION

i) CORRESPONDENCE SCHEME (FX)

Correspondence Scheme requires students to possess prescribed minimum educational qualifications for admission to each course, mentioned below. The printed study materials to assist the students will be provided. The various courses offered are:B.A, B.Com, B.B.M, M.A (all Subjects except Sanskrit and French), M.Com, M.Sc (Mathematics), Diploma, P.G Diploma and Certificate Courses.

ii) OPEN UNIVERSITY SCHEME (OU)
Candidates seeking Admission under Open University scheme need not possess prescribed minimum educational qualifications, but must have completed 18 years of age as on 1 st June of corresponding year. Printed study materials will be provided to students; in addition contact programme / classes are conducted after due Intimation via SMS/Media. The fees are slightly higher for the students enrolled under this Scheme. The Open University Scheme offers only B.A & B.Com courses.

iii) EXTERNAL SCHEME (EX)
The external scheme requires students to possess prescribed minimum educational qualifications for admission to each course as mentioned against them, but no Study materials will be provided under this scheme. The External Scheme offers only: M.A in French & M.A in Sanskrit

AWARD OF DEGREE, DIPLOMAS AND CERTIFICATES:
The students enrolled for different courses in the directorate on successful completion of the courses, will be awarded Degrees/Diplomas/ Certificates as per the regulations of the Bangalore University.

1. UNDER GRADUATE COURSES

1.1:Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Annual Scheme:
Minimum Duration : 3 years.
Maximum Duration to complete the Course : 6 years.
Medium : English and Kannada
Scheme : Correspondence/ Open University

1.2:Eligibility conditions for Admission to B.A. Course Correspondence Scheme:
a) Pass in the Two Years PreUniversity examination (including Supplementary examination) conducted by the PreUniversity
Education Board of Karnataka State (10+2 Pattern) or equivalent examination thereto.
OR
b) A pass in any of the following examinations considered equivalent thereto like;
i) PreUniversity Examination in Vocational Courses, Conducted by the Department of Vocational Education, Government of Karnataka
(10+2).
ii) Three years Diploma Courses conducted by the Department of
Technical Education, Government of Karnataka. (10+3 pattern).
iii) Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted by
National Open School, New Delhi as +2 Stage examinations
corresponding to the PreUniversity
examination.
iv) “INSTANT” Intermediate examination (+2) of the Andhra Pradesh
Intermediate Examination Board
v) Job Oriented PreUniversity
Diploma Courses Conducted by the
State Council for Vocational Education in Karnataka or other states
which are considered as equivalent to two years of P.U.C. of Karnataka.

2.1: Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) Annual Scheme:
Minimum Duration : 3 years.
Maximum Duration to complete the Course : 6 years.
Medium : English only
Scheme : Correspondence/ Open University

2.2: Eligibility conditions for admission to B.Com. Course Correspondence Scheme :
a) Pass in the Two years Pre Universityexamination in Arts/
Commerce/Science, (including Supplementary) examination conducted by the PreUniversity Education Board of Karnataka State (10+2 Pattern) or equivalent examination there to With Commerce and Accountancy as optional subjects.
OR
b) A pass in any of the following examinations considered equivalent like:
i) Job Oriented PreUniversity Diploma Courses Conducted by the
State Council for Vocational Education in Karnataka or other states which are considered as equivalent to two years of P.U.C of Karnataka (10+2).
ii) Diploma in Business administration conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Karnataka (10 + 3).
iii) Graduates in Arts or Science shall also be eligible for admission to1 st Year B.Com degree course. They shall be exempted from the study of languages with B.Com Course.

 3.1: Bachelor of Business Management (B.B.M) Annual Scheme:
Minimum Duration : 3 years.
Maximum Duration to complete the Course : 6 years.
Medium : English only
Scheme : Correspondence only
3.2: Eligibility conditions for admission to B.B.M. Degree Course:
a) Pass in the Two years PreUniversity examination in (including
Supplementary examination) conducted by the PreUniversity Education
Board of Karnataka State (10+2 Pattern) or equivalent thereto.
b) Job Oriented PreUniversity Diploma Courses conducted by the State Council for Vocational Education in Karnataka or other states which are considered as equivalent to two years of P.U.C of Karnataka.
